Dr. Seraphim Moreira
Dr. Moreira has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years now, with a majority of that time spent right here at Litchfield Smiles. Today, he loves being able to build amazing relationships with his patients while taking care of their various needs! If you’d like to learn more about him, just continue reading below.
Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?
Growing up in Brazil, Dr. Moreira’s family dentist was a very prominent older gentleman who was a good friend of his grandfather’s and didn’t even charge them for work. Unfortunately, the man treated his entire family very poorly; he was very rough, and Dr. Moreira and his siblings were terrified every time they had to walk into the dental office. Later in life, his experiences made him want to become a dentist so that he could handle this type of important care differently and be as gentle as possible with patients in need.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Moreira studied dentistry in Brazil and even ran his own dental office in Rio for several years, but eventually, the sociopolitical climate started to deteriorate to a point where he didn’t feel safe raising his kids there. He and his family decided to pursue the American dream, where he completed a rigorous examination and the normal licensing board exams to be able to practice in Arizona. After securing his dental license in 1994, he was ready to start improving smiles – and the rest is history!
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Moreira and Claudia, his wife of 30 years, have four sons named Rodrigo, Ricardo, Bruno, and Victor, as well as four grandchildren. When he isn’t busy caring for teeth, you can often find him woodworking, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, horse riding, motorcycle riding, photography, playing tennis, and sailing. He’s always looking for new hobbies to add to the mix!
