Removing Damaged Teeth to Protect Your Oral Health
Litchfield Smiles does everything it can to save a tooth if possible, rather than extract it. However, there are instances where severely damaged teeth are either too broken down to save or putting other teeth at risk. If this is the case, we may determine an extraction is the best move going forward. Before your treatment, we’ll always take the time to explain why we recommend tooth extractions from our Litchfield Park, AZ dental office and what you can expect during treatment.

When Does a Tooth Need to Be Removed?
The most common reason for tooth removal is severe long-term decay, but this is not the only reason we may remove a tooth. For example, if you plan on receiving a fixed orthodontic appliance and there is not enough room in the mouth to do so, teeth may also be removed. If gum disease has broken down the foundation of bone holding the tooth in place, teeth may not be viable in the mouth any longer and need removal.
